Cemetery Management Bill 2013
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Cemetery Management Bill 2013 would establish a Cemeteries Regulator and require most non-local-authority and non-religious cemetery operators to obtain a licence. Operators would have to meet management rules, including limits on commercial activities, to prevent them using control of a cemetery to unfairly compete with other businesses. The aim is to make cemetery management more transparent and promote fair competition.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to establish a cemeteries regulator, to provide for the licensing of cemetery authorities and to specify management stipulations for such authorities, to promote competition and to provide for related matters.
