Housing (Amendment) Bill 2013

The measure would amend the 2009 housing law to allow the new system for setting rents in local-authority housing to be introduced smoothly, while maintaining a clear legal basis for charging rent during the changeover. Each housing authority would have to prepare a rent scheme, following rules set by the Minister, with rents based on factors such as household income, household size and, where relevant, the cost of facilities provided.
