Seanad Bill 2013
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Seanad Bill 2013 would widen voting in Seanad elections to people eligible to vote in national, European or local elections, certain people in Northern Ireland, Irish passport holders abroad and graduates of higher-education institutions. It would require equal numbers of male and female candidates, allow public nominations, and give the Seanad stronger powers to examine EU proposals, government regulations and public appointments, hold inquiries and respond to petitions—making it more representative and more effective in scrutinising government.
Formal long title
