Statistics (1926 Census) Bill 2013

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Bill would give Ireland’s 1926 census “special heritage status” and allow its records to be released to the public, despite the usual 100-year closure period. Access could be provided electronically under conditions set by the Minister, helping people research family history, Ireland’s social and linguistic past, and the major political changes between 1911 and 1926.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Statistics Act 1993, in relation to the first census of population of Ireland taken since the establishment of the State; to afford that census a special heritage status and to have such released to the public for genealogical, historical and other research
