Road Traffic Bill 2013

The Road Traffic Bill 2013 would make it a serious criminal offence for a driver to leave the scene of a road accident when someone has been injured. A conviction could lead to a fine of up to €5,000, up to 10 years in prison, or both. It would also allow Gardaí to arrest without a warrant any driver suspected of leaving an accident, whether or not anyone was injured, and would allow the Minister to make supporting regulations.
