Health (Amendment) Bill 2013
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Health (Amendment) Bill 2013 would change nursing-home funding and healthcare charges. It would raise the contribution based on a person’s assets under the Nursing Homes Support Scheme from 5% to 7.5% for new residents, remove backdated State support for people already in care, and allow the HSE to outsource the scheme’s administration. It would also set or allow charges of €80 a day for eligible acute hospital stays, apply charges to private patients in public hospitals, and introduce contributions towards accommodation and maintenance for some people receiving residential support services.
