Parental Leave Bill 2013

The Parental Leave Bill 2013 would change the maternity protection rules to give parents of a newborn child rights to both maternity and paternity leave. The mother and father could not take these types of leave at the same time, but could share the minimum leave period between them; the Minister could also extend the available period. It would also update workplace protection rules to cover paternity leave.

Bill entitled an Act to amend Part II of the Maternity Protection Acts 1994 and 2004 to provide for both maternity and paternity leave for parents of a new born child and to provide for related matters
