Thirty-third Amendment of the Constitution (Court of Appeal) Bill 2013
Public bill · Government · Presented
The proposal would amend the Constitution to establish a new Court of Appeal, which would generally hear appeals from the High Court. The Supreme Court would focus on cases of wider public importance or where justice requires it, with only exceptional appeals coming directly from the High Court; the changes would also provide for the transfer of some existing cases, the appointment and oversight of Court of Appeal judges, and allow more than one Supreme Court judgment in constitutional cases.
