Financial Services (Protection of Deposits) Bill 2013
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
It would stop the State from putting any tax or charge on bank deposits that are protected by the deposit guarantee scheme, so ordinary savers’ covered deposits could not be targeted. In practical terms, it is meant to protect people’s savings if there were pressure to raise money from deposits, and to give deposit holders extra certainty that their covered funds would remain untouched.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to prohibit the imposition of a levy on deposits which are covered by the deposit guarantee scheme
