Energy Regulation (Code of Practice) Bill 2013

The proposed law would require the Commission for Energy Regulation to create and enforce a code of practice governing household energy billing and disconnections, based on existing supplier-handbook requirements. Electricity and gas suppliers who breached the code could face fines of up to €3,000, up to three months in prison, or both; company directors or managers could also be held responsible where their consent, involvement or neglect contributed to the offence.
