No. 17 of 2014Thirty-fourth Amendment of the Constitution (Presidential Voting) Bill 2014
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would change the Constitution so that Irish citizens could vote in presidential elections from age 16, instead of the current higher voting age. It also appears to extend that voting right to certain other people in the State if the law says so, while keeping existing limits for people who are legally disqualified. In simple terms, it would widen who can take part in choosing the President, which could bring younger voters into the process.
