Open Adoption Bill 2014

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would allow birth parents and certain relatives, such as grandparents, to maintain contact with a child after adoption, either by agreement with the adopters or the Adoption Authority, or through a court application. It would replace the current automatic ending of all such rights, recognising that contact arrangements may differ between families.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the possibility of access to a child by a natural parent or relative of the natural parent after the making of an adoption order and to provide for related matters
