The measure would reduce from seven years to two the time the Criminal Assets Bureau must wait before asking the High Court to sell or forfeit assets frozen because they are believed to be linked to crime. It aims to speed up the recovery of criminal proceeds, particularly from drug crime, and could bring several million euro into the State’s funds.
