Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill 2014
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would allow the Ombudsman to investigate complaints about Irish Water, Bord Gáis Éireann, EirGrid and the Commission for Energy Regulation. It would remove the latter three from the list of bodies that are currently exempt from Ombudsman review, extending independent scrutiny of how these organisations treat the public. The changes would begin on a date set by the responsible Minister.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Ombudsman Act 1980 (as amended) to make provision for the inclusion of Irish Water in the schedule of agencies reviewable by the Ombudsman and to provide for related matters
