Social Welfare and Pensions (Amendment) Bill 2014
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The bill would stop Irish Water from requiring people to provide their Personal Public Service (PPS) numbers, which are unique government identification numbers. It would also require Irish Water to destroy any PPS numbers already collected, addressing concerns that using them to verify household members and calculate children’s free water allowances was unnecessarily intrusive.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to remove the power of Irish Water to request persons to provide Irish Water with their Personal Public Service Numbers and for that purpose to amend the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 and to provide for related matters
