International Protection Bill 2015

Public bill · Government · Presented

The International Protection Bill 2015 would replace Ireland’s separate asylum procedures with one process covering refugee status, subsidiary protection and permission to remain. It would set rules for applications, interviews, detention, appeals and deportation, create an independent appeals tribunal, and provide recognised refugees and protected people with access to work, healthcare, welfare, housing and family reunification. It would also allow temporary protection during a mass influx and strengthen some immigration enforcement powers.
