Motor Vehicles (Duties and Licences) Bill 2015

Public bill · Government · Presented

Reduces motor tax for heavier goods vehicles, with the new rates applying to licences beginning on or after 1 January 2016. It also overturns the effect of a court ruling by keeping articulated goods vehicles in the goods-vehicle tax category rather than taxing them as non-agricultural tractors, and clarifies that the tractor unit, trailer and semi-trailer are weighed together when setting the tax rate.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Finance (Excise Duties) (Vehicles) Act 1952 and the Finance (Excise Duties) (Vehicles) (Amendment) Act 1960 in respect of certain duties or licences leviable or issuable thereunder; and to provide for related matters
