Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill 2015

The proposal would introduce a default 20 km/h speed limit on roads within housing estates, including private roads, to improve safety for residents and pedestrians. It would also allow local authorities to set a 20 km/h limit in other residential areas and retain or clarify other special limits, including 30 km/h, 50 km/h, 60 km/h, 80 km/h, 100 km/h and 120 km/h limits, subject to guidelines.
