Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill 2015

The Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill 2015 would require radio stations seeking a sound-broadcasting contract to reserve at least 40% of their music airtime for compositions connected with a distinctive aspect of the culture of the people of the island of Ireland. Its aim is to support Irish musical culture and identity in the face of strong British and American influence, by giving Irish music more exposure on radio.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide for a minimum percentage of Irish works in radio music programmes and for that purpose to amend the Broadcasting Act 2009, and to provide for related matters.
