Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Dying with Dignity Bill 2015 would allow certain terminally ill adults to seek medical help to end their own lives. Applicants would need to have decision-making capacity, make a voluntary and informed declaration, and receive approval from both their attending doctor and an independent doctor; safeguards would include a waiting period, the right to withdraw, record-keeping and review. Doctors and nurses could refuse on conscience grounds, but would have to arrange transfer of care.
