Finance (Local Property Tax) (Amendment) Bill 2015

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Finance (Local Property Tax) (Amendment) Bill 2015, introduced by Barry Cowen, would keep the existing local property tax valuation date—1 May 2013—indefinitely, so property values would not be reassessed for tax purposes unless both Houses of the Oireachtas agreed. It would also prevent the current tax level from being increased without that approval, giving homeowners greater certainty about future bills.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Finance (Local Property Tax) Act 2012 to make provision whereby the current level of local property tax shall not be increased and the valuation date in relation to a relevant residential property shall not be changed unless otherwise determined by both Houses of the Oireachtas
