Derelict Sites (Amendment) Bill 2015

The Derelict Sites (Amendment) Bill 2015 would give owners and occupiers 30 days to respond before a property is placed on the derelict sites register, while requiring people wrongly served with a notice to tell the local authority. It would strengthen enforcement by allowing councils to recover costs, charge a 5% levy on the value of affected urban land, add interest to unpaid levies, and impose fines of up to €10,000 or six months’ imprisonment for certain offences.
