Rural Equality Bill 2015

The Rural Equality Bill 2015 would require public bodies to consider how their policies and decisions affect rural communities, particularly people facing socio-economic disadvantage. For measures likely to have a significant effect, public bodies would assess and consult on the rural impact, publish their findings, consider ways to reduce harm or inequality, and report on their progress. The Minister for Agriculture would issue guidance, approve each body’s rural impact scheme and present an annual report to an Oireachtas committee.
