Comptroller and Auditor General (Amendment) Bill 2015

The proposal would give the Comptroller and Auditor General broader powers to examine whether public resources were used economically and efficiently, whether assets were bought or sold on the best reasonably available terms, and whether the State’s public interest was served. It would specifically add the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation and its special liquidation operation to the bodies covered by these examinations. The changes would be brought into effect on a date set by the Minister for Finance.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Comptroller and Auditor General (Amendment) Act 1993 in order to make an addition to the First Schedule, to expand the areas under which an examination under section 9 may be conducted, and to provide for related matters.
