Fiscal Responsibility (Amendment) Bill 2015
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
It would let the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council analyse the cost and budget impact of policy proposals put forward by qualifying political parties, including election manifestos, alternative budget plans and individual policies. It also sets out how parties could submit proposals, keeps the initial and final analysis confidential unless publication is allowed in limited cases, and requires fair access to the Council’s resources. This matters because it gives voters and parties an independent check on the real cost of political promises.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the powers and functions of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council in relation to the analysis of policy proposals of political parties; for that purpose, to amend the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2012; and to provide for related matters
