Employment Equality (Amendment) Bill 2015
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The bill would stop religious organisations and bodies they control, including schools and medical services, from treating employees or job applicants less favourably because of gender, marital or family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, Traveller ethnicity, disability or race. It would still allow favourable treatment based on religion where a particular religious belief is genuinely necessary for the job. The aim is to strengthen equal treatment for staff in education, healthcare and other services run by religious organisations.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide equality for employees of education, medical and other services under the direction of religious organisations
