Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would make political funding more transparent by limiting any person or company to €10,000 in total donations to politicians, candidates and political parties over 12 months, with breaches and false reports treated as offences. Donations would be reported more often, published online monthly, and accompanied by information about donors’ relevant interests, public contracts and procurement dealings; these rules would also cover independent candidates and local representatives. Ministers and other office-holders could voluntarily allow an audit of their personal finances while in office and for up to 18 months afterwards.
