Education (Amendment) Bill 2015
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Creates an Ombudsman for Education to handle complaints and appeals about school issues, including decisions by boards of management, teachers’ decisions, and grievances against schools. It also gives that office power to investigate problems, report on wider education issues affecting children, and push for better protection of pupils’ rights and welfare. That matters because it gives families a clearer, independent route to challenge school decisions and helps keep schools more accountable.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to establish an Ombudsman for Education, to provide an appeal mechanism for decisions of boards of education concerning decisions of teachers and grievances against schools, to provide for the investigation and reporting by the ombudsman for education of various matters pertaining to this act, to amend the Education Act, 1998, and to provide for related matters.
