Criminal Justice (Victims of Crime) Bill 2016
Public bill · Government · Presented
Sets out stronger rights, support and protection for people affected by crime, and brings Irish law into line with EU minimum standards. It gives victims clearer information about investigations and prosecutions, a right to be accompanied and referred to support services, extra protection during interviews and court cases, and special arrangements for children and other vulnerable victims. It also updates court procedures and evidence rules so victims can give evidence more safely, have their privacy better protected, and avoid unnecessary contact with the accused.
