National Anthem (Protection of Copyright and Related Rights) (Amendment) Bill 2016

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would restore copyright protection for “Amhrán na bhFiann” (A Soldier’s Song), covering both Peadar Kearney’s English lyrics and Patrick Heeney’s music. It would place those rights in State ownership indefinitely and treat them as having existed continuously, despite any previous lapse.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to restore the national anthem copyright protection to the National Anthem of the State and for that purpose to amend the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000 and to provide for related matters
