Electoral (Amendment) Bill 2016
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Electoral (Amendment) Bill 2016 would require all polling stations to be accessible to wheelchair users. It does this by making local authorities choose polling places that can support accessible voting stations, and by removing wording that allowed exceptions where accessibility was only “practicable.” It matters because it aims to make voting easier and fairer for disabled voters across the country.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Electoral Acts 1992 to 2015 to ensure all polling stations are made accessible to wheelchair users.
