Thirty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution (Water in Public Ownership) (No. 2) Bill 2016

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Adds a proposed constitutional rule that the Government must protect, manage and maintain the public water system, and must keep that system in public ownership and public management in the public interest. It also renumbers related wording in the Constitution and gives the amendment its formal name. The point is to lock public control of water into the Constitution, so it cannot be easily moved into private hands.
