Rent Certainty Bill 2016
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Rent Certainty Bill 2016 would change the Residential Tenancies Act 2004 so that rent increases or decreases following a rent review would be linked to the Consumer Price Index, as calculated by the Central Statistics Office. It aims to make private rents more predictable, protecting tenants from sharp increases while also protecting landlords from steep falls in rental income. The explanatory memorandum outlines repeal of one existing provision and the insertion of a new section to establish this system.
Formal long title
