Equal Status (Equality Proofing) (Amendment) Bill 2016
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
It would require public bodies to actively consider equality in how they do their work, especially when their decisions might affect people differently. They would also have to look at ways to reduce socio-economic disadvantage and other inequalities, and carry out equality impact assessments for major measures. The Equality Authority would oversee guidelines, reviews and advice, and failing to meet these duties could be treated as prohibited conduct.
