River Shannon Management Agency Bill 2016

The River Shannon Management Agency Bill 2016 would establish a single agency within the Office of Public Works to assess and manage flood risks and defences along the Shannon. It would coordinate the work of bodies including the ESB, local authorities and the National Parks and Wildlife Service, take over relevant Shannon-related responsibilities, and prepare a flood-prevention strategy within three months. The agency could carry out drainage works, share responsibilities with public bodies, and would report annually to the Minister and the Oireachtas.
