Water Services (Amendment) Bill 2016
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Water Services (Amendment) Bill 2016 would suspend domestic water charges, apart from connection fees, for nine months from 1 April to 31 December 2016. Irish Water could not later bill households for that period or apply late-payment charges based on it. The pause would allow an expert commission, an Oireachtas committee and the Government to consider and decide on a long-term funding system for domestic water and wastewater services; the suspension could be extended if that process was not finished.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to suspend charging for domestic water services; for those purposes to amend the Water Services Act 2014; and to provide for matters connected therewith
