Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill 2016
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
It would require radio stations to reserve at least 40% of their music airtime for Irish music, as a condition of getting a sound broadcasting contract. The aim is to support Irish musical culture and keep it strong in the face of heavy influence from English- and American-led popular music. It also updates the Broadcasting Act 2009 and sets out the usual short-title and related rules.
Formal long title
