Protection of Employment (Uncertain Hours) Bill 2016
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Aimed at stopping “if and when” work and tighter zero-hours practices from leaving workers with no real security, this proposal would give employees more predictable hours and pay. It would broaden rules so casual and irregular work can still count as continuous employment, let workers ask for their written hours to be corrected when their usual hours are higher than their contract says, and protect people from being punished for asserting those rights. It matters because it would make insecure work less open-ended and give workers a firmer footing to plan their income and lives.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide greater protection for employees by more effectually regulating zero hours and related employment practices; and to provide for related matters
