No. 93 of 2016

Prohibition of Hydraulic Fracturing (Extraction of Hydrocarbon) Bill 2016

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

It would ban fracking and any other method of extracting oil or gas from coal seams, shale rock and tight sands anywhere in Ireland, including the land and territorial waters of the State. It would also stop public bodies from giving licences, permits, consents or planning permission for such projects, or approving installations used for them. The purpose is to rule out these forms of fossil-fuel extraction because of their environmental and public health risks.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the prohibition of Hydraulic Fracturing and all other practices to extract Hydrocarbon from coal seams, shale rock and tight sands in Ireland
