Residential Institutions Statutory Fund (Amendment) Bill 2016
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would update the fund for former residents of residential institutions by widening the kinds of supports it can provide, including funeral-related costs, children’s education fees, and other services that improve living conditions. It would also speed up how applications are handled, make age a factor in deciding applications, and drop a plan to create a special account in the Minister for Health’s name. These changes matter because they aim to make the scheme more practical, flexible, and responsive to survivors’ needs.
Formal long title
