International Protection (Family Reunification) (Amendment) Bill 2017
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would widen and improve family reunification rules for refugees and people who qualify for subsidiary protection. It would let them apply for close family members, and in some cases wider relatives such as grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, wards or guardians, to come to Ireland and live here. It would also give people a formal right to ask for a review if an application is refused or a permission is later withdrawn, with a decision reconsidered by a senior official within a set timeframe. The point is to make it easier for separated families to reunite and to add a fairer appeals process.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide for a refugee or a person eligible for subsidiary protection to apply for members of their family, including a grandparent, parent, brother, sister, child, grandchild, ward or guardian, to enter and reside in the State
