Waste Reduction (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2017

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Aimed at cutting waste and boosting recycling, the measure would set up a deposit-return system for glass bottles, aluminium containers and plastic bottles, with return points in public places that give receipts for refunds. It would also give the Minister powers to set the rules, levy large producers who do not take part, and penalise damage to recycling units. In addition, it would raise penalties for litter offences and require landlords to make sure tenants have a lawful way to dispose of household waste, while also pushing for clearer rules for waste collection companies.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Waste Management Act 1996, the Litter Pollution Act 1997 and the Residential Tenancies Act 2004; and to provide for related matters
