Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) (Amendment) Bill 2017

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would increase the prison penalties for people convicted of sexually exploiting children, by amending the 2006 sexual offences law. It raises one penalty from 7 years to 15 years, and changes another so the maximum sentence becomes 15 years rather than life or a shorter term. The aim is to treat this offence more seriously and strengthen punishment for child sexual exploitation.

Formal long title
