Social Welfare Bill 2017

Public bill · Government · Presented

Raises weekly social welfare payments by €5 for most pensions, benefits and allowances, with smaller related increases for adult dependants and an extra €2 a week for each qualified child. It also improves support for parents by extending maternity leave and maternity benefit after premature births, renames Family Income Supplement as Working Family Payment, and increases the earnings thresholds for that payment and for one-parent family support. It also keeps the Back to Work Family Dividend going and adds a 0.1% rise in the employer levy that funds national training.
