Consumer Protection (Amendment) Bill 2017
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Sets a five-year minimum use period for gift vouchers, so traders could not put a shorter expiry date on them. It also requires shops and other sellers to tell customers, before they buy, about any fees, such as issue charges, replacement charges, charges for unused balances, and any limits on how the voucher can be used. The aim is to give consumers clearer terms and better value when buying gift vouchers.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Consumer Protection Act 2007 to provide for specified regulations relating to gift vouchers and for related matters
