Planning and Development (Amendment) (Short Term Lettings) Bill 2017
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would treat a home used for short-term letting for more than 90 nights in a year as a change of use, bringing it under planning control. It would also require anyone advertising, hosting, or facilitating a short-term let to register it with the tenancy authority using the property’s Eircode each time it is let, with significant fines for non-compliance. A reduced registration fee of €10 would apply for these lets, aiming to make holiday-style renting more visible and easier to regulate.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Planning and Development Act 2000, to amend the Residential Tenancies Act 2004 and to provide for related matters.
