Prohibition of Wild Animals in Circuses Bill 2017

Would ban the use of wild animals in circuses and make it an offence to train a wild animal for circus performances. It defines what counts as a circus, a circus operator, and a wild animal, and it adds these new offences to the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013. Breaking the rule could lead to a fine or up to six months in prison on summary conviction, or a much larger fine or up to five years in prison on indictment.
