Údarás na Gaeltachta (Amendment) Bill 2017
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would change how Údarás na Gaeltachta is run by making most of its members elected by people in the Gaeltacht, rather than appointed. It would keep a minister-appointed chairperson and two other appointed members, and it sets out Gaeltacht areas as separate voting regions with fixed numbers of seats for each county area. It also updates how long board members can serve. This matters because it would give local Gaeltacht communities a direct say in choosing the body that supports Irish language and economic development in those areas.
