Judicial Council Bill 2017

Creates an independent Judicial Council to support judges, uphold high standards, and improve public confidence in the courts. It also sets up ways to handle complaints about judicial misconduct, including informal resolution, formal investigation, and lay participation, while protecting judges’ independence and due process. In addition, it creates groups to support judges’ training and to prepare guidelines on sentencing and personal injuries, so court decisions are more consistent and transparent.
