Health and Social Care Professionals (Amendment) Bill 2017
Public bill · Government · Presented
The measure updates the rules for regulating health and social care professions. It fixes gaps in how professional members are appointed to the council and registration boards, lets boards set extra training or education conditions for people who are qualified but have not yet practised, and creates a one-off path for certain physiotherapists and physical therapists to register under the protected physiotherapist title. It matters because it strengthens public protection, keeps the registration system working smoothly, and reduces confusion between the titles “physiotherapist” and “physical therapist.”
